Server crash via mixed-type partition values
Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Jan 14, 2025
Denial of service in MonetDB Server 11.49.1 allows remote authenticated users to crash the database with a crafted partition-value SQL statement. exp_values_set_supertype attempts to derive a common type from mixed numeric and string partition values, leaving invalid type state during semantic analysis and terminating mserver5. Exploitation requires an authenticated session with permission to alter the merge table; the demonstrated consequence is a database-service crash, not data access or modification.
