CVE-2024-57623Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Database process crash via crafted BLOB updates

Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Jan 14, 2025

Denial of service in HEAP_malloc in MonetDB Server 11.49.1 allows remote attackers to crash the database via crafted SQL statements. The public report shows BLOBput reaching HEAP_malloc during table updates, but MonetDB has not disclosed the allocation error that causes the crash. Network access to the SQL service is sufficient; the demonstrated consequence is termination of mserver5, not host compromise.
