Database server crash via crafted SQL expression
Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Jan 15, 2025
Denial of service in exp_bin in MonetDB Server 11.49.1 allows remote attackers to crash mserver5 via a crafted SQL expression. During expression code generation, exp_bin mishandles an IN expression combining an aggregate subquery with an ntile window call, terminating the server process. A SQL connection that can submit the query is required; the demonstrated consequence is loss of the database service, not data access or modification.
