Server crash via null-bearing TRIM arguments
Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Jan 15, 2025
Denial of service in MonetDB Server 11.47.11 allows remote attackers to crash the database server via a crafted SQL statement. The trimchars routine fails to safely handle TRIM arguments built from newurl expressions receiving NULL values, terminating mserver5. Network access to the SQL service is sufficient; the demonstrated process termination interrupts database service without reported data disclosure or modification.
