Database server crash via malformed ORDER BY
Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Jan 15, 2025
Denial of service in MonetDB Server 11.47.11 allows remote attackers to crash the database server with a crafted SQL statement. During ORDER BY analysis, rel_order_by passes the crafted debug expression to atom_get_int, which attempts integer extraction and terminates mserver5 instead of rejecting the invalid term. No privileges or user interaction are required, and exploitation interrupts database availability without reported data disclosure or modification.
