Database server crash via malformed BETWEEN expression
Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Jan 17, 2025
Denial of service in MonetDB Server 11.47.11 allows remote attackers to crash the database server via a crafted SQL statement. BATcalcbetween_intern mishandles a nested BETWEEN expression involving NULL and a scalar subquery, causing mserver5 to terminate. The statement must reach SQL execution; successful exploitation terminates mserver5 and interrupts database service.
