CVE-2024-57544Public exploit

Authenticated crash via unbounded lan_ipaddr stack copy

Published Jan 21, 2025 · Updated Jan 22, 2025

Buffer overflow in Linksys E8450 firmware 1.2.00.360516 allows remote authenticated users to crash the router via a crafted lan_ipaddr value. The sub_422eb8 JSON parser passes the attacker-controlled value to strcpy, copying it into a fixed stack buffer without a length check. Adjacent-network access and low-privilege authentication are required; the published proof of concept demonstrates a crash, not code execution.
