Local code execution via oversized memory-stream copy
Published Jan 29, 2025 · Updated Jan 31, 2025
Heap buffer overflow in Bento4 mp42avc at 3bdc891602d19789b8e8626e4a3e613a937b4d35 allows local users to execute arbitrary code. When parsing a crafted MP4, AP4_MemoryByteStream::WritePartial passes a 4,294,967,294-byte length to memcpy for a 1,052-byte heap allocation, causing an out-of-bounds write. A local user must invoke mp42avc on the file; the published demonstration aborts under AddressSanitizer, while the CVE record states that the write allows code execution in the process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
