CVE-2024-5749Network attack vector

SMTP credential disclosure via unauthenticated reflection

Published Oct 15, 2024 · Updated Oct 16, 2024

Missing authentication in HP DesignJet T730 and T830 firmware before candela_dist_pr2_001.2419B allows remote attackers to view SMTP credentials. HP identifies the behavior as credential reflection but has not published the request, endpoint, or code path that returns the configured SMTP server credentials without authentication. Network access to an affected printer is sufficient; exploitation exposes stored SMTP credentials without changing printer data or interrupting service.
