Unauthenticated command execution via unchecked MAC update
Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Jul 7, 2026
Buffer overflow in the H3C N12 V100R005 firmware allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands or crash the device via HTTP. The MAC address update function processes attacker-controlled data from a POST request to /bin/webs without verifying its length, allowing its buffer to overflow. Network access to the web interface is sufficient; no authentication or user interaction is required, and successful exploitation causes command execution or a device crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
