Authenticated code execution via unrestricted avatar upload
Published Feb 10, 2025 · Updated Feb 19, 2025
Arbitrary file upload in Timo 2.0.3 allows remote authenticated users to execute code through a crafted /userPicture request. The avatar endpoint accepts a JSP payload labeled image/jpeg, stores it in a web-accessible location, and exposes the saved path through the avatar view. The public proof uses an administrator session and a Tomcat deployment; requesting the saved JSP executes attacker-supplied server commands.
