Command execution via crafted ifname path segment
Published May 5, 2025 · Updated May 5, 2025
Command injection in NETGEAR RAX5 firmware 1.0.2.26 allows remote attackers to execute operating-system commands through a crafted ifname value. The apcli_cancel_wps route treats a URL path segment as ifname and permits shell metacharacters, allowing an injected command to run. The published proof of concept reaches the router over HTTP with a sysauth cookie and demonstrates file creation, establishing authenticated code execution but not unauthenticated reachability.
