CVE-2024-57233Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Command execution via unsanitized iface parameter

Published May 5, 2025 · Updated May 5, 2025

Command injection in NETGEAR RAX5 firmware 1.0.2.26 allows remote attackers to execute commands through the router's web interface. The vif_disable function in /usr/lib/lua/luci/controller/mtkwifi.lua passes the iface value to command execution without neutralizing shell metacharacters. The proof of concept includes a sysauth cookie, while CISA assigns no required privileges, leaving the authentication gate unresolved.
