Unauthenticated administrator impersonation via trusted User header
Published Jun 10, 2025 · Updated Jun 10, 2025
Authentication bypass in Erxes before 1.6.1 allows remote attackers to impersonate any user through a crafted User HTTP header. The gateway forwards an attacker-supplied user header unchanged, and downstream services Base64-decode and parse its JSON as an authenticated user object without validating its origin. No credentials or user interaction are required; impersonating an administrator exposes application data and permits creation of a persistent administrator account.
