Denial of service via prototype-path assignment

Prototype pollution in dot-properties 1.0.1 allows remote attackers to interrupt service by parsing a crafted properties string. In lib/parse.js, addPair treats a proto path segment as an ordinary key, follows the inherited prototype, and assigns attacker-controlled descendant properties to Object.prototype. Reachability requires an application to pass attacker-controlled properties text to parse with path expansion enabled; published evidence reports a service interrupt but no confidentiality or integrity impact.
