Service interruption via query-string prototype pollution
Published Feb 5, 2025 · Updated Mar 19, 2025
Prototype pollution in underscore-contrib 0.3.0 allows remote attackers to interrupt applications through crafted query strings. The fromQuery parser follows a proto bracket path and assigns the supplied key and value onto Object.prototype instead of an isolated result object. Exploitation requires a consuming application to pass an attacker-controlled query string to fromQuery; the documented consequence is service interruption.
