Service interruption via lib.post prototype pollution
Published Feb 5, 2025 · Updated Mar 18, 2025
Prototype pollution in ajax-request 1.2.3 allows remote attackers to interrupt a consuming Node.js service via a crafted payload. The lib.post entry point accepts an object containing proto and lets its setter add properties to the global prototype chain. No authentication or user interaction is required when an application passes attacker-controlled data to the library; the demonstrated outcome is service interruption.
