Authenticated command execution via unchecked VPN description
Published Jan 15, 2025 · Updated Mar 13, 2025
OS command injection in TOTOLINK X5000R firmware 9.1.0cu.2350_B20230313 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands. The setVpnAccountCfg handler passes the unchecked desc value through Uci_Set_Str and CsteSystem to execv, allowing shell metacharacters to alter the executed command. Access to the router management interface and a valid session token are required; successful injection runs attacker-chosen commands on the device.
