Address-bar spoofing via fullscreen data-list overlay
Published Jun 11, 2024 · Updated Mar 14, 2025
UI spoofing in Mozilla Firefox before 127 allows remote attackers to obscure the address bar with a text box through crafted web content. Fullscreen transitions render an open HTML data-list text box above browser chrome, allowing page-controlled text to cover the trusted address-bar display. A user must enter fullscreen mode and open the data-list; the resulting overlay can misrepresent the site identity and support phishing.
