Memory corruption via premature collection during object transplant
Published Jun 11, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Use-after-free in Mozilla Firefox before 127, Firefox ESR before 115.12, and Thunderbird before 115.12 allows remote attackers to corrupt memory. During JSObject::swap, setIsUsedAsPrototype can trigger garbage collection before a later pre-write barrier, allowing the referenced object to be swept. Exploitation requires garbage collection at a precise point; Mozilla demonstrates a crash and describes further exploitation as very difficult.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=0 <127
