CVE-2024-56830Network attack vector

Traffic disclosure and manipulation via predictable keys

Published Jan 2, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2025

Cryptographic weakness in Net::EasyTCP 0.15 through 0.26 allows remote attackers to predict encryption keys via weak random generation. When Crypt::Random is unavailable, the module's key-generation path falls back to Perl's built-in rand(), which lacks cryptographic guarantees. Exposure requires encryption in a client or server deployment without Crypt::Random; predictable keys can permit disclosure or manipulation of protected traffic.
