Subscriber-level image upload via missing capability check
Published Jul 10, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in Featured Image Generator 1.3.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to upload arbitrary images. The fig_save_after_generate_image function saves supplied image data to a post-related gallery without checking whether the caller can edit posts. Subscriber-level access is sufficient, and the documented consequence is unauthorized media addition rather than code execution.
