Kernel memory corruption via dangling gendisk pointer
Published Jan 6, 2025 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Use-after-free in Linux kernel ublk 6.7 through 6.12.7 and 6.13 release candidates allows local users to corrupt kernel memory. If add_disk() fails, the freed gendisk remains in ub->ub_disk, and ublk_abort_requests() later takes a reference through that dangling pointer. Access to /dev/ublk-control with unprivileged ublk support is sufficient; exploitation can disclose kernel memory, alter control flow, or panic the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
