Local denial of service via retained mutex
Published Dec 29, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Denial of service in the Linux kernel's Nouveau driver from 6.2 allows local users to hang GPU channel creation. The gf100_gr_chan_new() error path returns when gf100_grctx_generate() fails without releasing gr->fecs.mutex, leaving later users blocked. Reachability requires local low-privileged access that drives Nouveau channel creation into the context-generation failure path; the reported consequence is availability loss only.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
