Observable timing discrepancy in GNU GRUB 2.00 through 2.12 allows local users to infer compared data via execution timing. The grub_crypto_memcmp routine returns as soon as it finds a differing byte, making execution time depend on the matching prefix of untrusted comparison data. Access to the GRUB console is required, and the reported consequence is information disclosure without data modification or service interruption.
