CVE-2024-56717Network attack vector

Packet-transmission interruption via incorrect SRC_PORT encoding

Published Dec 29, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Incorrect port encoding in affected Linux kernel versions allows remote attackers to interrupt packet transmission on Ocelot and Felix switches. ocelot_port_inject_frame passes BIT_ULL(x) to ocelot_ifh_set_basic even though the IFH SRC_PORT field expects the single CPU-port index x. The path requires compatible switch hardware and CPU-injected traffic through Ocelot switchdev or Felix ocelot-8021q, where packing failures cause transmit and timestamp timeouts.
