Service interruption via unchecked MHI endpoint resource
Published Dec 28, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in the PCI MHI endpoint function in Linux allows local users to crash the kernel via a device tree lacking mmio. The MHI endpoint path in drivers/pci/endpoint/functions/pci-epf-mhi.c dereferences res->start without checking whether platform_get_resource_byname() returned NULL. The vulnerable PCI endpoint must use a device tree without the mmio resource; reaching the NULL access can interrupt the system.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
