Kernel crash via undersized RedBox supervision buffer
Published Dec 27, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in Linux kernel HSR RedBox support in 6.10 through 6.12.4 and 6.13-rc1 allows local users to crash the kernel. hsr_init_skb allocates only the base supervision-frame buffer, but send_hsr_supervision_frame appends two additional RedBox structures beyond that allocation. The flaw is reached when an HSR RedBox generates a supervision frame, and the resulting skb_over_panic interrupts the host.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
