System crash via double-stopped kernel thread
Published Dec 27, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026
Use-after-free in the Linux kernel qla2xxx SCSI driver allows local users to crash the system by unloading the driver. During removal, the UNLOADING flag can make dpc_thread exit and free itself before qla2x00_remove_one calls kthread_stop on the freed task. Triggering the flaw requires local access and module removal while dpc_thread is exiting; the documented consequence is a kernel crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
