CVE-2024-56572

Local availability degradation via unreleased media buffers

Published Dec 27, 2024 · Updated May 11, 2026

A memory leak in the Allegro DVT media driver in affected Linux kernels allows local users to consume kernel memory. When allegro_alloc_buffer fails inside allocate_buffers_internal(), the exception path returns without releasing a buffer allocated during an earlier loop iteration. Reachability requires local low-privilege access and execution of the driver's allocation-failure path; repeated failures degrade availability through incremental memory loss.
