CVE-2024-56510

Script execution via HTML comment sanitizer bypass

Published Dec 26, 2024 · Updated Dec 27, 2024

Cross-site scripting in Marp Core 3.0.2 through 3.9.0 and 4.0.0 allows attackers to execute script through crafted Markdown. The built-in allowlist sanitizer mishandles input containing insufficient HTML comments and emits unsanitized markup into rendered slide HTML. The default allowlist must be active and a user must render and view the attacker-controlled presentation, enabling script execution in that viewing context.
