Stored XSS via unescaped custom property names
Published Jan 3, 2025 · Updated Jan 3, 2025
Stored XSS in PHPOffice PhpSpreadsheet affected versions allows attackers to execute JavaScript via crafted XLSX custom properties. Html::generateMeta inserts an attacker-controlled custom-property name into an HTML meta element without escaping it. Exploitation requires a consuming application to convert the crafted workbook to HTML and a user to view that output, exposing the browser context to script execution.
