Cross-account avatar changes via unchecked user ID
Published Jun 21, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Authorization bypass in Cozmoslabs User Profile Picture 2.6.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to alter any user's avatar. rest_api_change_profile_image accepts a caller-controlled user_id and applies the supplied media_id without confirming that the caller can edit that user. Author-level access and image-upload capability are sufficient, and successful requests overwrite another account's displayed profile picture.
