CVE-2024-56336Network attack vector

Malicious firmware installation via unlocked bootloader

Published Mar 11, 2025 · Updated Mar 11, 2025

Improper authentication in Siemens SINAMICS S200 devices with specified serial and FS numbers allows remote attackers to install untrusted firmware. The device bootloader remains unlocked and accepts malicious code or untrusted firmware without enforcing the intended authenticity controls. Network access to an affected physical drive is required, and successful installation can compromise or damage the device and defeat its protections against manipulation and unauthorized access.
