CVE-2024-56325Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated administrator creation via matrix-parameter path confusion

Published Apr 1, 2025 · Updated Oct 27, 2025

Authentication bypass in Apache Pinot before 1.3.0 allows remote attackers to create administrative users through crafted request paths. The broker and controller AuthenticationFilter classes pass paths containing semicolon-delimited matrix parameters to isBaseFile, so a trailing period makes a protected endpoint look like a public base file. Network access to an authentication-enabled controller is sufficient; a crafted POST can add an administrator and enable control of the datastore.
