Stored script execution via unescaped dashboard names
Published Dec 22, 2024 · Updated Mar 18, 2025
Stored XSS in REDCap through 14.9.6 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts via a malicious Project Dashboard name. The dashboard creation flow stores the name field without neutralizing executable markup and later renders it as an interactive dashboard link. A normal user must save the crafted dashboard, and execution requires another user to click its name, exposing that user's accessible session data to the injected script.
