Author-level code execution via unfiltered ZIP extraction
Published Jul 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Arbitrary file upload in Insert or Embed Articulate Content into WordPress before 4.3000000024 allows remote authenticated users to execute PHP. The e-Learning upload handler extracts ZIP contents into wp-content/uploads/articulate_uploads without rejecting embedded PHP files. Author access is required; a crafted course archive can place a web shell at a directly reachable URL and run code with the WordPress server's privileges.
