CVE-2024-5629Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Memory disclosure via BSON size integer overflow

Published Jun 5, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in MongoDB PyMongo 4.6.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to disclose application memory through malformed BSON. The bson._cbsonmodule get_value routine adds attacker-controlled code and scope sizes using 32-bit arithmetic, allowing wraparound to bypass buffer-length checks. A malicious MongoDB server must return a crafted code-with-scope element; decoding can place adjacent process-memory bytes in an exception and interrupt the client operation.
