Arbitrary SQL execution via unchecked HQL functions
Published Jun 12, 2025 · Updated Jan 12, 2026
SQL injection in XWiki Platform allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary Oracle SQL through the REST query endpoint. StandardHQLCompleteStatementValidator accepts native function calls in SELECT expressions instead of restricting them to approved constructs, so Hibernate passes attacker-supplied DBMS_XMLGEN or DBMS_XMLQUERY calls to Oracle. The query endpoint must be reachable and XWiki must use Oracle; successful requests can read, write, or delete database data.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=>= 1.0, < 15.10.16
- Affected versionversion=>= 16.0.0-rc-1, < 16.4.7
- Affected versionversion=>= 16.5.0-rc-1, < 16.10.2
