Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped icon setting
Published Jun 7, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored cross-site scripting in WPDeveloper Essential Addons for Elementor Pro 5.8.15 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts. The eael_lightbox_open_btn_icon setting in the Lightbox & Modal widget accepts untrusted icon markup without sufficient input sanitization and later emits it without adequate output escaping. Contributor-level access is required, and the stored script executes in a visitor's browser whenever the injected page is opened.
