Student-level code execution via unrestricted assignment upload
Published Dec 18, 2024 · Updated Apr 28, 2026
Unrestricted file upload in VibeThemes WPLMS before 1.9.9.5.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute code through a web shell. The wplms_assignment_plupload function in includes/assignments/assignments.php accepts an assignment upload without restricting its filename or file type, leaving executable content under the web server. A student account and valid upload nonce are required; a successful upload executes with web-server privileges and can read, alter, or interrupt application data.
