Arbitrary code execution via malformed trace file

Stack-based buffer overflow in National Instruments NI I/O Trace 24.3 and earlier allows attackers to execute code via a crafted nitrace file. The Windows tool processes an attacker-supplied nitrace file without a required bounds check, overflowing a stack buffer. Exploitation requires a user to open the crafted file in I/O Trace, which is installed through System Configuration, after which injected code runs in that user’s context.
