Document resaving interruption via external reference XML
Published Dec 15, 2024 · Updated Dec 16, 2024
Improper DOCX processing in Syncfusion Essential Studio for ASP.NET MVC before 27.1.55 allows remote attackers to interrupt document resaving. DocIO throws an XMLException when it resaves a crafted DOCX document containing external reference XML. A consuming application must pass attacker-controlled content into the resave path; public sources establish a failed resave operation, not a process crash or broader document compromise.
