CVE-2024-55968Public exploit

Root escalation via unrestricted XPC database queries

Published Jan 28, 2025 · Updated Mar 24, 2025

Privilege escalation in DTEX DEC-M (DTEX Forwarder) 6.1.1 allows local users to obtain root access through unauthorized XPC database queries. The com.dtexsystems.helper service accepts any XPC client and passes submitQuery input to a privileged database operation; the proof of concept attaches to /var/db/auth.db and rewrites authorization rules. A local macOS session is required, and successful exploitation changes system authorization policy so attacker-controlled code can run as root.
