Container command execution via PostgreSQL COPY FROM PROGRAM
Published Mar 26, 2025 · Updated Mar 27, 2025
Command injection in Appsmith before 1.52 allows remote authenticated users to execute shell commands inside its Docker container. The embedded PostgreSQL service accepts built-in postgres credentials, and COPY FROM PROGRAM runs attacker-supplied query text as an operating-system command. Reachability requires an account able to create a PostgreSQL datasource and execute queries; open registration can supply that account, and commands remain inside the Appsmith container.
