Root-account removal via missing role check
Published Jan 16, 2025 · Updated Feb 12, 2025
Improper authorization in OpenObserve before 0.14.1 allows remote authenticated users with Admin access to remove Root users. The remove_user_from_org function processes DELETE /api/{org_id}/users/{email_id} without blocking Admin-to-Root deletion. Admin credentials are required; removing every Root membership denies Root access and leaves the Admin as the effective highest-privileged account.
