Stored XSS via unescaped Post Carousel options
Published Aug 2, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Stored XSS in Essential Blocks before 4.7.0 allows remote authenticated users with contributor access to execute script in an editor. Post Carousel block options, including titleTag, are stored and rendered without validation or escaping, allowing an injected event handler to enter generated markup. Exploitation requires a contributor to save crafted block markup and another user to edit the post and hover its generated title, exposing that user's WordPress session to script execution.
