CVE-2024-55921Network attack vector

Code execution via forged extension installation

Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Jan 15, 2025

Cross-site request forgery in TYPO3 CMS allows remote attackers to install repository extensions through an active backend session. Extension Manager state-changing controllers accepted HTTP GET requests without asserting POST, so crafted deep links invoked installation actions. A backend user must open a malicious link, or visit a hostile page while referrer enforcement and strict SameSite cookies are disabled; a malicious extension can execute code.
