CVE-2024-55891Network attack vector

Password disclosure via hash exception logging

Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Jan 15, 2025

Information disclosure in TYPO3 CMS 13.4.2 allows remote authenticated users to expose the Install Tool password through application logs. PasswordHashFactory::get passed an unsupported stored hash into InvalidPasswordHashException, and exception logging persisted the value in plaintext. The condition requires low-privileged network access and an Install Tool password using an unsupported hashing mechanism; the reported impact is password confidentiality only.
