Remote code execution via mutable custom-filter setting
Published Dec 13, 2024 · Updated Dec 13, 2024
Code injection in D-Tale before 3.16.1 allows remote attackers to execute code through custom filters on publicly hosted servers. The update_settings function accepts the enable_custom_filters key from the update-settings endpoint, enabling attacker-supplied pandas query strings to reach filter evaluation. Exploitation requires network access to an instance exposed to untrusted users and grants code execution in the server process context.
